If I do not see an assignment submitted by the time that I am entering that grade, it will be entered as a zero and missing. This is for us to stay organized, manage, and track all student work in a timely manner. Remember, I have around 60 H9 students and it takes some time for me to read and grade each assignment submitted. Please DO NOT email me asking me to update your grade. Please complete this late work form instead: Late Work Submission Form. You do not get marked down for submitting work late during our online learning phase. Rest assured, if you have submitted your work and completed the late work form, your assignment will be graded! Please try to keep up with the class to avoid this inconvenience. 4/27/2020 Week of April 27 - May 1If you or your student have yet to engage with online learning, please send a response to this email to let me know your situation and what is going on. This could be a simple “Hello! Yes, we’re receiving your emails!” or “We’re all good to start with online learning this week!” I will be reaching out to families and students that I have yet to hear or receive work from in order to help you get started and caught up.
All families may monitor their student’s engagement and learning on Skyward’s Family Access. This week we will have one LIVE and one Pre-Recorded / Independent lesson with students on Tuesday. On Friday, students may choose when to log-in and complete the lesson and activities. Schedule for this week: Tuesday – 5th Period: 10:00-10:45am (LIVE) Tuesday – 7th Period: 1:00-1:45 (LIVE) Friday– 5th Period: Pre-Recorded / Independent Friday– 7th Period: Pre-Recorded / Independent A note on grades: OSPI released its grading policy last week, which led to ISD doing the same on Thursday. While it was made clear that student grades cannot drop from where they were on March 17, you will need to continue engaging in class assignments / lessons in order to earn credit for the course. I am working this week with the rest of the English department to determine what that “engagement” looks like and considering how it will be measured in this class. Please know we are aiming for something that is fair for all students while also motivating all students to continue learning. 4/20/2020 Week of April 20-24I’m excited to get back to our learning remotely starting on April 20th! After this first week back, I’ll send out an email every Monday morning, detailing the weekly plan that provides the necessary information you need to pace your learning for the entire week.
First, if you have yet to log into Office 365 and Microsoft Teams, please do so. Students, please email me if you do not have access to our class team yet ASAP! This week, we’ll be meeting for two “Live” class days. This means that I will be available during our designated class period meeting time (see below). During each of these 45-minute live sessions, I will walk you through the day’s lesson via Teams. Note that all the materials will be available to you under the “General” channel in Teams --> “Files” Tab. You can access these materials anytime and work on the lesson and assignments at your own pace each week. Still, I highly recommend you do your best to attend our Live sessions so that you do not fall behind on the daily work. When the weekly plan includes a “Pre-Recorded,” students may choose when to log-in and complete the lesson or activities at their own time. This week, for “Live” Days, we’re following this schedule: Monday/Thursday: Always “A” Day Tuesday/Friday: Always “B” Day (5th and 7th Periods for Ms. Dalia’s class meet) Wednesday: Office Hours – 1pm-2pm
Tuesday – 5th Period: 10:00-10:45am (LIVE) Tuesday – 7th Period: 1:00-1:45 (LIVE) Friday– 5th Period: 10:00-10:45am (LIVE) Friday– 7th Period: 1:00-1:45 (LIVE) On Tuesday, April 21, please plan to attend our live class at the time indicated above. You will also receive a Remind text message 15 minutes before class time. If you arrive to our class channel early, DON’T start your own meeting! Please wait for the purple “Meeting Now” to show up in the “Posts” section to join the Live class session. I look forward to seeing you and hope that you’re able to join our first session on Tuesday as we begin our last unit, Romeo and Juliet! 4/9/2020 ANNOUNCEMENT: Thursday, April 9H9 ENGLISH - UNIT REFLECTION ACTIVITY
